MEETING- ;0F PROTEST. (Per Press A s socialion.) \' y Wellington, .inly 21. The meeting of protest against compulsory military .training, held last night*;, was a doubtful, .success, from the promoters’ point of view. More thanmalf of those present wore young men 'enthusiastically in favour of the scheme. Mr \V. Bedford presided, and disked the'audience to sing” “Song of Revolt, No. 4.” This eventuated as , a solo, but was speedily drowned ini, guffaws'. A resolution—- “ That this meeting is strongly opposed to compulsory military training, as it is In direct opposition to the groat traditions of freedom upheld byBritain, and demand the repeal of the Act”—was supported by barely half the audience. The supporters of military training then rose and cheered.
