Mew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency so.’s Report. The N. Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report : We held a clearing sale at Mr. J. H. Corbett‘s, ,on the East Road, on Monday last, when there was a large attendance, including a number of ladies. There was very keen competition for tiie cows, some of which were very nice indeed, and prices ranged from IIOs to 3055, tho herd, including cows in imik and store cows, making an average of 183 s. A pedigree Hull was sold to a local buyer at 25 guineas, and 2-year old heifers in calf realised from 90s to 150 s, and a vary nice line of yearling heifers made an average of 7.1 s. Pigs made up to 21s, pedigree sows in pig from Kills to 117 s 6d, 1 marc £lO, and another at £7 ss. Sundries were offered, including milk cans, realising 13s to 21s, Donald jack 335. wrawiugroom suite 88s, the piano being passed in at 35 guineas, gig £l2, dray £lO, harness £7, hay rake 82s 6d, grass mower £3, disc harrows £5, s.f. plough £6, and chain harrows 55 5, while fowls realised from 2s to 2s Gd each.
Yv r o hold our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards on Tuesday last, when we yarded 379 head of cattle and 919 sheep, the greater portion of which were sold either at the hammer of afterwards, at the following prices:—AVeaners, poor and weedy, ids: fair and modinm 255; while good made up to 38s, and a nice line of woauer heifers, Holsteius, made up to. Ms; 18 month steers wore in better demand, and realised 67s Gd; empty cows, low condition, 06s to 7 Is; fat cows, medium weights, 85s to Jlss; store cows, oils to 725; dairy cows, 80s, for an inferior line, to 157 s 6d for good; 21 to 3 year old heifers, in 'calf, were keenly competed for, and realised 97s del to 1265, munry heifers, medium quality, 60s to 795; hulls from -10 s to 70s.
Wo submitted for auction, on account of Mr. E. G. Barleyman, Tntntawa, who has sold Ids farm, 23 dairy cows aml 880 owes. The latter looked very well, hut were in slightly low condition, and the prices offered wore rather disappointing. However, as Mr. Barleynm 11 laid no place to put them in, they were sold without reserve, the owes realising from 5s 3d for culls to 10s 7d for up to fullmouth ewes. His dairy herd ol very nice quality were slightly low in condition, hut were keenly competed lor by sundry buyers, and made from I.los to 2155, making tho fair average of 160 s.
