At Los Angeles the efforts to commit Mrs McManigal for refusing to give evidence against the McNamaras at tho grand jury investigations failed, tho Judge holding that tho woman was not bound to testify as she was tho wife of an accused person. Tho evidence just published contains the alleged confession of Jas. McNamara to McManigal, in which it is admitted that McNamara destroyed tho “Times” building. Tho confession was made in November last.
