Mr. Harcourt, replying to Mr. Hunt, said he believed that the report that a company had imported four thousand coloured workmen from the New Caledonian mines was much exaggerated. There was no reason to believe that the Commonwealth was unable to prevent men landing contrary to the Immigration Acts.
