COAL VEND CASE.

By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. United Press Association. Sydney, July 18. To-day is the fiftieth day of the proceedings in connection with the vend case. Mr Campbell continued Ins address. Ho considered the practice of sharing trade amongst owners not. objectionable under the Act. It did not rs-restrict outputs. His Honour said some mines were able to produce cheaper than others, and therefore could supply cheaper. Mr Campbell admitted that the Maitland mines produced cheaper than the Newcastle; also that Maitland could supply the whole demand. That, however, would mean closing the Newcastle mines. Continuing, he said the agreement between the mineowners and the shipping companies was justifiable, ensuring the latter of a continuity of supplies and preventing unjust cutting.
