At Stratford on the 11th inst. there was a fair yarding, with a good attendance of buyers. Weaner heifers (small) made 22s Gd, mixed weaners 3us Gd, yearling steers 33s Gd to £2 4s, yearling heifers • £2 3s Gd to £2 8s (id, 2 to 21 year heifers £2 14s to £3 os, 2-V to. 3 year hellers £3 155, - store cows £2 lbs to £3 3s, forward cows £3 os to £3 ios, springing coivs £4 Jos to £5 os, 21 year steers £3 t)s, lambs 8s id. On the same dayM sold, on account of Messrs. I hlenocrg tiros., at the Stratford dairy yards, early caivers at ,£G to £8 ss, later £4 to £5 15s, stores and empty co\\;s £l 10s to £5, springing heUers £5 to £7 10s. On Wednesday, i2th July, 1 held a clearing sale at Normandy, in conjunction with Messrs. Gillies and i\alder, on account of Air. Jr. A. Higgs, u aeu there was a good atteuclai.ee, and the cattle, especially those showing good Holstein strain, sold well. Gray, .deceased; Springing heifers made 1 £4 2s, dairy cows £G to £lO os, ’ gi‘a<ie Jerseys up to £l4 15s, pedigree Jersey cow ‘ Cream .Waver” iSJgmj., do. ‘‘Jicws Countess” Joigns., bull £ll ss. 1 ’ 1 On Timrsday, July 11th, I held a clearing sale at my Stony iiiver yards on account .of air. A. Alexander, when there was a very large attendance from both North and South Taranaki, and from Auckland. The stock were \ in excellent; ‘condition, but competition for the fat and forward bullocks,,was not as keen as was expected, prices being in favour of buyers. Sheep also wore good buying, the scarcity of feed, no d’opbt, being accountable for the limited demand for both classes. A big Jot of horses were offered, most of them being of excellent quality. Bidding was keen for anything showing quality, and good prices were realised all round.
