DESERTING A CHILD.
(Per Press Assocation ) Wellington, July 12. Ellen Briggs, a young woman arrested, at-Taih'ape, was charged at thy Court to-day with having on tho 30th June exposed a child in a manner likely to cause injury to its health. It is alleged that the child, which is barely twelve months old, was left on the doorstep of the Home of Compassion. Accused pleaded guilty, and was remanded for sentence till Friday. Bail, was allowed.
