MEDICAL INSPECTION. In another part of -this issue will be found an article dealing witii medical inspection. It has now been decided that inspection will start at the Defence Office, Stratford, tomorrow, school boys being exam ned from 11 a.m. to 9.30 p.ra. Following are ether fixtures:—Saturday, Stratford, 3.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.; Mon lav, Midhirst, 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.; Eltham, 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m; Tuesday, Midhirst, 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. ; Stratford, 3.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. ; Wednesday, Midhirst, 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Stratford, till 9.30 p.iii.; Thursday, Strathmoie, 10 a.m.; Pohokura, 3 p..n ; Whangamomona, 0.30 p.m. to ' 0.-r.-O p.m.; Friday, Whangamomona, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.; Douglas, 1.40 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. DRILL SHEDS. Colonel Chaytor, officer commanding the Wellington district, is at present, on a tour of the district inquiring into the questeion of drill-sheds. On Tuesday evening he was at Han era;, and consulted the local offiaws t °gai cling providing a more coinmocfijus < nil shed, and also inquired legarliug a rifle range. Colonel Chaytor arrived in Strafford by the one o’clock tram yesterday, and inquired regard'ag a site for a drill shed. T n the afternoon he proceeded on to New Plymouth, where a conference uas held with the A. and P. Assooi i tion authorities as to joint use of the Holding the Association intends to oi ect. While inn New Plymouth, Colonel Chaytor acted with Lieut.-001. Malcne and Captain Smith, Brigade Msjor, as a board for examination of an officer.
TERRITORIAL DECORATION. At New Plymouth last night Colorel Chaytor presented the Territorial Decoration,. which is given for twenty years’ service as a commissioned officer to Colonel Messenger, . etired list. This is the first decoration which has been presented in Taranaki. OFFICIERS’ INSTRUCTION CAMP. All officers, non-coms., and Senior Cadet officers''in the 'Wellington 1 chstrict are to attend a camp of in sti notion opening at Palmerston cn August sth, and lasting for a week. It is expected that five hundred on! ns w'll go into camp.
