HEAVY RAINS. (l\r Press Association.) Palmerston N., July 10. Heavy rain has fallen throughout yesterday and to-day, and in consequence all rivers have risen. The Tokcmaru river is said to lie higher than it has been for many years, while the Pohangina and Oroua aie also in high flood. The Manawatu river is running bank high, and reports from Ashhurst state that it is still rising. The road between Ashhurst and Palmerston is under water. A. washout occurred on the railway line near Maharahara, between Dsnuevirko and Woodvillo. As a consequence the goods train from Palmerston to Hawke’s Bay was held up at the washout on the Woodville side, and the passengers on that train and also on the evening Waipukurau train to Palmerston had to cross the \ ashout, each train returning from whence it came. Wanganui, July 10. Heavy rain foil steadily from early morning till about 3 o’clock this afternoon. The river is running high, but no damage has boon done. Masterton; July 10. Very heavy and incessant rain has fallen in this district during the last twenty-four hours, nearly three inches being registered. Most of the rivers are in a high state of flood, and slips have come down in parts, but no scrims damage is reported. Wellington, July 10. Continuous steady rain at Wellington throughout to-day considerably hampered cargo handling. The departures of the following vessels were postponed till to-morrow :—Rosamond, for Onehunga, via way ports; Koonya, for Now Plymouth and West Coast Haupiri, for Picton, East Coast and Auckland: Kiripaka, for Wanganui and Patea; Tongariro, for Lyttelton; Asc-f, for Lyttelton and Dunedin; Aorere, for Pa tea; Wakau, for Kaikoura and Lyttelton; Queen of the Sooth, for Foxtou ; Opawa, for Blenheim; Moa, for Wanganui and Bloni heim.
