o WOMEN GO MAD. GREAT DAMAGE DONE. Vienna, July 10. Earthquake shocks lasting twelve minutes did damage at Kloskemet aggregating £IOO,OOO. .No buildings remained intact. Many ware injured by collapsing avails. Several women went mad, and were taken to the asylum.

A fissure opened outside the town and emitted hot mud and sulphur. Elsewhere a peasant and his nine children were killed. Little damage was done at Budapesth, but there was a great panic, and thousands rushed into the streets in their night attire and gazed at the houses expecting them to topple. Ma ny spent the night in the streets. The inmates of the asylum were frenzied, and struggled fearfully. The nurses put many into straight waistcoats.
