Jerry, whoa there was a laii altendance, and the cows, winch were mostly young and early ’culvers, sold readily, it any carvers, good condition, made Bo ids to £9 10s, later £4 to £6, store cows £2 to £3 2s 6d, bull. £4, weaners £1 18s (id. At Rowan, on June 29th, at Mrs. F. \V. fork’s clearing sale, there was a good attendance ox buyers, and the stock, which were in good condition, brought full market rates. Early culvers £6 15s to £44 ss, later £4 15s to £6 ss, forward cows £3 40s to £3 15s, bull £2, weancr heifers £2 Zs, weaner steers 21s, young sows 20s to 22s (id, weaner pigs 7s, dd, bay gelding £22 10s, dray £2 10s; sundries sold at usual rates.
At J. Whittington's clearing sale on tiro Finnerty Road on June 30th,. a
fair number attended, and the stock (especially tire cows showing quality, and the young heifers) sold well. Early culvers good quality made up bo £l2 10s, later £5 2s 6d to £6 ss, very late empty and poor conditioned £2 iss to £4, bull £0 10s, 18 months to 2 year heifers £3 2s 6d, weaner heifers 38s (id, chestnut filly £2O 10s, hack £8 15s, Shetland pony £B, lambs 5s (id, sow and litter £2 12s (id, young sows 355, dray £ll ss, jack £1 Vs 6d; sundries sold well. I held a clearing sale on Monday, July 4, at Hobson Hoad, on account of Mr. H. H. Baber, when there was a good attendance and the stock realised good prices. Early culvers made £S 10s to £ll, later £4 to £B, very late and store cows £1 12s 6cl to £3 10s, bulls £2 os to £2 15s, springing heifers £1 to £6 7s 6d, yearling heifers £2 4s, 18 months to 2 year heifers £3, hack £7 ss, draught mare £24,
gelding £24- 10s, sows £1 12s Gd to £5 12s (id, boar 30s, dray £8 10s, bug gy £5 10s. At the same place 1 sold, on account of Mr. Vv. H. Rogers, a few dairy cows, which, although poor quality and late, realised up to £6 10s, 2r} to 3 year heifers £3 10s to £4 10s, store cows £2 10s to £3 os. On Tuesday, July 4th, I hold a most successful sale at llahotn, on account of Mr. D. M. Stringer, when there was a good attendance,- and both the live and dead stock sold well. The cows wore a good lot, and nearly all early ealvers, and prices were uniformly good. Early ealvers £6 10s to £lO iss, ’ later and aged £4 10s to £6 ss, springing heifers £7 17s Gd, 2 year heifers £3 1.35, mare £l7 10s, dray and harness £lB, gig and harness £2B, weaner pigs Bs, sow £2, plough £5, 47 shares in Raliotu Dairy Co. sold for £lB 16s. At Raliotu sale on the sale day there was a large yarding, .but prices for young cattle were not as strong as at the previous sale. Mixed yearlings 21s to 395, yearling steers 28s to 425, yearling heifers 30s to 43s Gd. 18 month heifers £2 12s 6d to £2 15s, 2 year heifers £3 os, springing heifers £6 Ss, store cows £2 to £2 10s, forward cows £3 15s, springing cows £5 to £6 10s, fat cows £6, bulls £2, 4 choice young Holstein bulls sold on account of Mr. R. Morrow realised 13 to 18 guineas, 8 yearling Holstein heifers £2 14s Gd.
On the same day .1 held a clearing sale at Stratford on account of Mr. James Yandle. The few cattle sold were' mostly purebred to pedigree Jerseys, and realised good prices. Pedigree cow. “Acnshla” 40 guineas, ‘ Caroline” 34 guineas, “Wild Wood” 35. V guineas, “Gipsy Queen” 18 guineas, “Queen Mary” 19 guineas, ordinary cows £7 to £lO 10s, later £5 to £6 ss, store cows £3 to £3 ss. grade .yearling heifers £2 14s, springing heifers £9 15s, pedigree Jersey bulls 8-J- to 114 guineas. On Wednesday July sth, 1 held a clearing sale at Tataraimaka on account of Messrs. Wilkinson and Son, when there was a good attendance. All early calyers were well competed for, but aged and backward were not so saleable; sundries sold at fair prices. Early calvers £6 5s to £9 10s. later £3 15s to £5 15s, old cows £2 5s to £3 ss. 2 year heifers £3 2s, Euringing heifers £5 ss, weaners 21s, sow £3 2s Gd, gelding £2l, pony £7, dray £6 15s.
Young, HofcJis anti Go. At Eltham on Wednesday, 2 a th, \<c had a full yarding, and mosc of the stock changed hands at prices. We quote:—Fat cows £5 2s 6d to £5 18s, forward do. £ i to .1' ! 16s, store to fresh do. £3 Is to £3 15s,_ dioicc springing heifers £6 15s, springing cows £4 to £5, 2 yeai h< roods £3 2s Gd to £3 12s Od, v.a-ancrs 275, calves 18s 6d, At Stratford on July -Ith we held our usual fortnightly sale. Ail the advertised cattle came forward, aid most of the stock was quitted at satisfactory prices. Fat heifers and cows made £4 to £5 11s, fresh and forwuid do. £3 5s to £3 18s, springing heifers £5 to £5 15s, 2 year do. £4 to £4 11s, springing cows £5 5s to £B, 2 year steers £3 19$, 18 month do. £2 18s 6d, yearling do. 38s, mixed do. 30s to 80s Gd, calves 20s, cull lambs 2s 3d, fat ewes 12s Id, cull 2 tooth ewes 10s.
MatthDU's and Bennett. ■ Matthews and Bennett report teat there was a good entry of cattle in their Inglewood pards on Wednesday last, and most lots changed hands at the following prices:—Calves £1 5s to £1 16s 6d, yearlings £2 2s Gd, empty heifers £2 14s 6d to £3 9s, store cows £2 8$ to £3 15s, springers £4 5s to £8 os, fat cows £5 Is to £G Gs Gd, f.m. ewes 5s lid. At the Horse Fair on Friday about 75 horses were offered and a good number were sold. Draught horses made from £.7 to £l4 10s, hacks £4 to £l3, unbroken Hacks £ll 10s to £ls, weeds from 7s Gd to £2. At Mr. Shegadoen’s sale there was a good attendance of buyers and everything sold well, the cows made from £5 to £lO ss, hulls £4 12s Gd to £6 10s, .horse £l2 10s, separator plant £27 7s, and furniture and sundries at fair prices.
