THE RIVERINA.
A PERTINENT QUESTION. Sydney, July 4. In the Assembly Mr. Wade asked if it'was true the Victorian Government had lodged a claim tor the ilivevina; also, if the information leading to the claim nad been found by a Victorian officer while allowed to search the New South Wales records on another matter. Mr. Holman answered that he believed so. Mr. Wade asked if the use of the information under the circumstances was not a breach of confidence. Mr. Holman promised to lay the papers on the table of the House. (Received o, 9.15 a.m.) Sydney, July 5. Victoria’s claim to the Rivcrina is the revival of an old matter. The feeling in political circles here is that she has small chance of succeeding. The letter making the claim’ suggests that the true construction of the Imperial statute uxing the boundary of the two States should hei definitely settled, and invites the attention of the New South Wales Government to the manner it can best be done. Melbourne, July 5. The Government was inspired in making the claim to the lliverina by the victory which it obtained over South Australia in the recent boundary dispute relating to the stretch of territory, on the eastern boundary. The matter is not taken very seriously here. In some quarters it is looked upon as a revival of the old story with a view to obscure electoral issues at the forthcoming elections.
