THE BAND.

(To the Editor “Stratford Post.”) Sir, —In reply to Cr Lawson’s remarks at tiie special meeting of tho Borough Council last Monday referring to tho Stratford Town Band: Mr hgwson is quite right in saying the oand should be reorganised. But, s far as saying that he thought or understood that the band got the sack from their theatre job, he is absolutey wrong, as they did not. The fact of tho matter is that four or five—aay bo seven— would turn up to play, .rd they could not do so without Sid Acraard .led them. Well, Sid Bernard can’t operate the picture machine, and also play at the same time, ;o the band decided not to continue o take money under susp'emu, winch .V very honest of tho band boys. As dr Cr Paget saying it was through die loose way the instruments were’ issued, I don’t think he understands die harmony of a mouth-organ; and .6 far as tho condition of the said mass instruments are concerned, I lon’fc think Sousa or any professional sand could keep them better. Why, dipy look as good as the electric light m a Saturday night—in New York. Perhaps Crs Paget and Lawson would ike to see the instruments stored in ome damp room with cobwebs and erdigris engaged on them. I wait or a reply. I am, etc., WILL DIAMOND, Manager, Theatre.
