DRAINAGE REPORT.

NORTH-FAST QUARTER. ' A t tiu, . -j" _ opcsml loan meeting of tiie Borough Council the Overseer was requested to report regarding thq draining of the north-east portion of the • Borough. He presented the following report to last night’s, special meeting:—“l bog to report that ail that part of the Borough north of Regan Street and west of Swansea Road to Pembroke Road and Brecon Road, which is not. or cannot lie connected with the present sewers, can be sewered to a septic tank almost alongside the present one at a lower level. Rosalind, Sylvia, and Falstaff Streets can lie sewuwed into Regan Street, There are ten houses in Miranda Street central which are not connected with the Borough sewers.” Cr. Paget moved.that the report lie referred back to thh Overseer for further details, it was always apparent that the drainage reported on could bo done. The report did not answer the question raised. Cr. Healy seconded pro forma. Cr. King said the Council had asked the Foreman to report as to whether certain work could lie done, and ho thought he had answered the question fully. , Cr. Healy could not sec the necessity for a further report. What Cr. Paget wanted would bo forthcoming when estimates were given for the whole of the loan w-orks. Cr. .Songster moved as an amendment that the Foreman, prepare an estimate of the work. Cr. Morison seconded. The amendment was- carried, but when put as the substantive motion, Cr, Paget moved as an amendment that the Overseer be asked to report on the drainage between Swansea Road and the Borough, boundary. Cr Ward seconded pro'forma, and the amendment was carried.
