MARITIME STRIKE.
HULL STRIKERS MORE CONCILIATORY. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. United Press Association. London, July 3. A steward of the Canada has been arrested in connection with the fires. Owing to tho strike, tiro Carmania and the Empress of Britain, aboard which are Sir Wilfrid Laurier and the Canadian contingent, will be unable to sail. The liner St. Louis picked up the mails at Queenstown. Flour at Hull lately rose to Is 6d per stone, not 2s 2d. The supply of butter is almost exhausted. Sugar has risen a farthing a pound. The railwayman resolved to strike if asked to deal with the transit of goods handled by blacklegs. • A sectional meeting of strikers at Hull resolved to resume if tho employers, besides their recent order, augmented all dockers’ wages and met representatives of all sections to discuss the settlement of their grievances. Mr. Asquith was invited to act as mediator in the matter. SOLDIERS FOR HULL. London, Jnly3. The second battalion of tho South Staffordshire Regiment, quartered at Lichfield, has been ordered to be in readiness to proceed to Liverpool or Hull. (Received 4, 10 a.m.) London, July 3. AH the dockers at Glasgow have struck. Ine Seamen’s Union advise a re',rrn to work, taking eight minutes to sling bales instead of five, and generlilv work according to the wages paid. It is expected work will shortly be resumed. (Received 4, 1 a.m.) London, July 3. The Liverpool strike has ended, and the Carmania and Empress of Britain have sailed.
