UNBURIED CORPSE.
o A FORTNIGHT IN THE MORGUE. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, July 1. The Fosoitai authorities observe a close reticence regarding the case in which a body remained imburied for neat 77 a fortnight, but the facts are being gradually elicited. The patient, who was named John Wilson, and was 59 years' of age, died from phthisis on June 11. Ris body was sent to the morgue in the Hospital grounds, and at the same time the patient’s card, endorsed “Dead” was forwarded to the Hospital office. At the office the card appears to have been filed at once. The death was registered, but the undertaker was not informed, and no arrangements wore made for burial. No friends enquired for Wilson, and the body lay for"Mten jci the morgue until June ,21. Arrangements were then made for the burial, which took place on June 23. This is the position so far as can bo ascertained. The Hospital Committee will consider the case nest week, and in the meantime the authorities decline to make a statement.
