KOHURATAHI NOTES.

[By Grip.] A farewell' social and dance was held in the Kohuratahi Hall on June 23rd in honour of Air A. McKenzie. On this occasion Mr A. McKenzie, better known under the common or garden name of "Sandy,” was presented with a travelling rug by his numerous friends. Mr E. Hill, in making the presentation, expressed the good wishes of all Sandy’s associates, and added that on behalf of the Kohuratahi Hall Committee he heartily thanked him for the active part ho had taken in furthering its cause, and wished him every success in his new sphere of life. During the evening songs were rendered by Miss Sims, and Mr Faulkner and Mr R. Kennedy. The wool-classes arranged by the Education Board at Mr Davis’s woolshed, Kohuratahi, have started, and are held every Thursday at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. As this is a facility placed within the reach of the sheep-far-mers of this district, it gives- them a chance to keep in touch with np-to-dato methods. Mr Cassidy (the expert classer) would like to see a large afternoon class on Thursday next, July 6th. The class is practical and is arranged to meet the requirements of wool-growers around this district. It is hoped that there will be a good attendance to show the full appreciation of the class. The Loan and Mercantile held their first sale in their Kohuratahi yards on Friday, Juno 30th. There were numerous entries. Lambs were in demand, one pen fetching 9s . 6d. The sale was well attended, and the spirit of business prevails. "Advance Kohuratahi” seems to be the motto. A church meeting was held at Airs Hight’s boardinghouse on the evening of June 29th. The Rev. Houch01’, after a strenuous ride, arrived at the meeting. It was decided to erect a church on a site of Airs Hight’s.
