Si.l* JAMES CAR-IO!A'. AT GORE. (Per Press Association.) Gore, July 2, Sir James Carroll gave a political address at Gore on Saturday night. Mm meeting was large. The ActingPremier said he had been a participant in the administration of the people’s affairs for many years, but though absent in person, his efforts had not been confined to the North. Ho had done his best in the interest of both North and South. He had been twenty years in the House, and tire whole of that time lie had been identified with the Liberal Party, which still stood to-day as the Progressive Party. The people should be proud to be leading the world in advanced legislation. He referred to the Opposition criticism on native lands on the lines of his Invercargill speech. The Hon. Dr. Ngata explained the position of the Native Lands Department, and the meeting passed a motion of thanks and confidence in the Government.
