Tim first representative match of the season under Northern Union rules was played here on Saturday in glorious weather, and before a very' fair attendance of the public. The Taranaki team, which included several emergencies, was beaten after an attractive game, by 19 points to 8. COUNTRY TEAMS’ TOURS. The secretary of the Rugby Union (Mr. P. Skoglund) has received advice from the New Zealand Union that the following dates have been fixed for the tours of the North Island and South Island country teams: — South Island Team.—Assemble at Christchurch on August Ist. Play Canterbury August 3rd, Otago sth, Southland fitly. North Team, 12th. North Island Team.—Assemble at Palmerston North on July 26th (Wednesday), in time to proceed by mail train that day (except South Auckland and Bay of Plenty representatives, who will catch the train as it passes through). Play Auckland July 29th, Taranaki August 3rd, Wanganui sth, Wellington! -9th, South Team 12th. The Maori team which is touring the Dominion this season will play a Taranaki team on August 10th.
