(Per Press Association.) Wellington, July 1. A deputation from the TaratahiCarterton Racing Club waited on the Hon. Buddo to-day and protested against the reduction of its permit in the Racing Commission’s report from two days to one. The Minister replied that he had to carry opt the recommendations in so far as, they conformed with the Act and he could not give the deputation much comfort so far as-permits for this coming year were concerned. As to whether the recommendations of the Commission wore in accordance with the law he would be able to soy on the advice of the Crown Law authorities in two or three days. A deputation representing the lire Brigades Association waited on the Hoti. Buddo to-day and placed before him resolutions passed at the recent conference. In reply the Minister approved the suggestion that the Government should issue a set of model building regulations to which municipalities should “tune” their bylaws. The proposal would be considered in connection with any Town Planning Bill introduced. Ho did not think there was any need for revolting the, requirement that onethird of the ratepayers should record their votes before any poll on a proposal to establish a fire board could be valid. He promised to convey to the Minister for Education a suggestion that charts should be placed in schools and instructions giving simple elementary rules dealing with outbreaks of fire. The other matters referred to would receive consideration. Auction advertisements will be found on page 6 and S. To save the trouble of handling a heavy stock at stock-taking which takes place in August, A. Spence has decided to hold a great shelf-empty-ing sale, commencing on Saturday, July Ist. The firm of A. Spence, Broadway, Stratford, is now well known to the- public of this town and district, having been here for over a year. The proprietor takes this opportunity to thank his numerous patrons for the liberal custom given him and to assure them that, as in the past so in the future, he will use his utmost endeavours to maintain and extend a business connection which he hopes will always prove to be mutually beneficial.
