THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. London, June 29. There was an exciting finish in the golf championship. Vardon and Massey tied with 303, Hilton and Herd were next with 304, and Braid and Ray 305. Scott (Victoria) was fortieth, with 320. (Received 1, 10.30 a.m.) London, Juno 30. In the re-play for the golf championship, Vardon won, doing 35 holes in 143 strokes. Massey retired after doing 34 holes in 148. Last year Braid won the championship with a score of 299. Braid lias won the championship four times out of the last six, and Massey and J. H. Taylor on the other two occasions.
