LOCAL OPTION POLL. -Sydney, June 29. The Legislative Assembly, by 3i> votes to 8, decided that tho local option poll should not in future he taken on the same day as tho general election. SHORTAGE OF LABOUR. Sydney, June 29. The Hon. G. S. Beeby (Minister Tor Education), replying to nuostions ;n the Assembly regarding the shortage of public school teachers, said the Government proposes to import fifty English teachers to meet immediate demands, and to make the service more attractive jjo as to secure a properly qualified stqff.
