NAPIER PARK RACES—FIRST DAY. (Por Press Association.) Napier, Juno 28. The winter meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club commenced to-day. Heavy showers fell at frequent intervals, and the air was bitterly cold, and the course, as well as the grounds inside and outside the enclosure, were soon in a sloppy condition. A total of £9179 was invested, as against £6030 last year. Further results : Ladies’ Bracelet.—To Whetu 1, Peary 2, Onslow Park 3. Also ran; Memo Lad, Bas Bleu, and Longboat. Won by a head. Time, 2min 26 4-5 sec. Ahuriri Hurdle Handicap.—Windage 1. Tern 2, Golden Water 3. Also ran : Leolanter, Mallett, Merrie Lawn Mallet lost his rider. Won by a length and a half. Time, 3min 34 sec. Settlers’’ Hack Handicap.—Percelcr 1, Fuss 2. Ortygia 3. Also ran: Seaweed, Gold Battery, Amaru, Manupai, Eiya, Composed, Esmcb, Golden Age. Awha, Goldfiench, Goldemar, Fleetwcek, Suffragette, Limelight, Hatana, .Lock Maben. Won on the pest by .a nose. A good third. Time, Irnin 25sco.
