GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S LEVEE.
“BARNUM’S BAND.” Melbourne, Juno 25. In connection with Ministers’ absence at the Governor’s levee, Mr. O’Malley says he never goes to Govern meat House. If he were Prime Minister he would put a stop to the show of wigs and gowns and “powdered faces, like Barnum’s Band.” MR. HUGHES EXPLAINS. x Melbourne, June 25. Mr. Hughes explains the levee incident by saying that only the Prime Minister should attend such functions. Ho was sick and made no provision to bo represented. He shoulders the whole blame.
