(Before His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards.) The Supreme Court sessions were continued at New Plymouth on Wednesday. FORGERY AND UTTERING AND THEFT. George Delaney, a young, man, was charged with having, at Eltliam, on or about May 31, forged a cheque for £l2 IDs, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand at Eltliam, and purporting to I) > signed h\ \V. A. Cleaver, and knowing it to no forged, that he dealt with the cheque as though it wore genuine, obtaining from the Eltliam branch of the Melbourne Clothing Company certain goods and cash amounting to CIO 18s Gd. As an alternative to the charge of uttering, he. was charged also with obtaining tho goods and cash by false pietoncos. Mr. C. H. Weston prosecuted, l>nt the prisoner was unrepresented by counsel. He pleaded “not guilty.’’ The jury was out for ten minutes, and returned with a verdict of guilty on all counts.
