The chairman said Mi Porritt bad one 1.0 a great deal of tronole in mopacing a plan showing where it >as proposed to erect horse boxes, the executive’s proposal was to have die boxes on the eastern side of the val. Mr Wei)l> moved that the boxes he ■reeled .at the south end of the oval. Mr Kirkwood seconded pro forma, s an amendment ho moved that the nixes ho ■ erected on the eastern side f the oval, at the point found most ,uitable by tire executive. Mr D. J. Malone seconded Mr Kirkwood’s amendment. He said that ho executive objected to Mr Webb’s ■lea, because they thought that at ano future time it would he necesiry to enlarge both the oval and the induce shed. r J’he Rawer a people •tul had to shift their horse boxes because they had in the first place been ■reeled too near the ring. Mr Richards said that at last /ear’s show there was considerable longer to spectators through horses icing driven about. It was highly bearable to have all kinds of stock ■oust'd near to each other,-. ■,, This could make for more easy .working of ho parade. I 'i. Mr Porritt said there was .quo,thing in favour of the site proposed by the 'xeentivo—whatever was done in future it would never be necessary to shift the horse boxes. Mr Webb said ire considered it. vould spoil the ground to pub the Imxcs where the executive recoin mended. mr- Kirkwood’s amendment . was carried by 15 votes to 7. Air Webb said he had merely' desired to have the matter thrashed out. vote of thanks was passed to Mr Porritt for' his trouble in preparing the plan of the boxes. Schedule Committees Appointed. Mr J. 1). Tloaly said schedule comnittccs should he set up at that mooting. It could not ho done too early. If the-committees were appointed they could go through last /ear’s schedules and bring them up-to-date. The different schedule committees would appoint an executive schedule committee. He moved that schedule committees he appointed, vith instructions to report 'finally, at least two months before the show; Mr Kirkwood seconded the motion, but thought the committee! "should not be confined to members present, that day. He thought-.the scheme would bo more successful than' leaving the schedule to one committee. Mr Healy moved that two members present that day should bo appointed to each committee, with power to add three members to each, reports to be submitted a month from date. I tic motion was carried, and the following committees were appointed: Horses, Messrs Stewart and Sliotter; cattle, Messrs .Watkins and Peterson j sheep, . -Messrs Pettigrew and Kennedy; pigs, Messys Webb and Stratford; Dome industries, Messrs Richards and T. Reader;. dogs, Messrs T. Kirkwood and ill. H. fsltohr; poultry, Messrs Pugh and W. 1). Anderson. I*o7 Judging, -Pairy Stock. Mr Webb rrioVcd that at next show the dairy stock sho'uld be judged by two judges, who should call in another judge it they could not agree. Last year there nad been much dissatisfaction. ivir Mellow seconded. 'j he chairman said the idea was good, because the dairy cattle judge nad to deal with all breeds of cattle, and if lie happened to be a Jersey utorder the Jersey cattle might get too much consideration. Mr Peterson said there had been three judges at Hawora last year. Ho tiiougbt lucre should bo a separate judge for, each of the chief breeds. Tne motion was carried. Shew Dates. The chairman said it would be necessary to fix a date, lor the show, there having been a general shitting of dates. The executive recommended that the Stratford show be held on November 2Utb and t’Otb—a week Tier tne New Plymouth Show. It was rather unfortunate that there rtouti only ne a week between tiio allows in the district, i) ine recommendation was adopted. V/sHi at the Grounds. The executive committee reported that stumping, had boon completed and ploughing was well forward. The drain next to »'Huggitt i s had been completed, the work having been done by the caretaker. New Members. The following new members were elected: Dr Steven and Messrs R. 1). Milne (Toko), J. J. Wisniewski (Glimie Road), J. I- Habowski (Miclmrst), J. jvirKinan, A. V. Kemp, C. E. Goodwin and W. T. Wood (Stratford).
\ fi-o.i i' l1 j!l-.pj>i'-f, horse “hiking charge” and bolting tltrough Hastings Street, Napier, caused sonic slight diversion the other morning. The driver had, apparently, been taking something to keep, the cold morning fog out of his throat, and was unable to control the fiery steed. He passed Emerson Street in great style, but there the watchful eye of Constable Rosanoski fell upon him, and mounting his bicycle, the constable set off in pursuit. He followed the runaway until it reached the Victoria Hotel. Mere the horse swerved into the gutter and pulled uj) against a culvert. The. occupant/promptly fell out under the wheel. Luckily the horse had had enough of the performance, and stood until, tiie constable rescued the driver from his dangerous position.
