AN URGENT PLEA. (Received 15, SAG a.m.) London, Juno 14. Sir Joseph Ward, in an address at the Royal Geological Institute on higher and truer Imperialism, made an urgent plea for an Imperial Council. Some day, ho said, it would bo impossible for Britain to alone maintain her majestic supremacy of tho seas, and the dominions would bo equally unable to wholly defend themselves from foreign aggression. Lord Sol borne, who presided, said: “We must be prepared to sec the centre of gravity of the Empire pass from the United Kingdom to some other part of the Empire. While Englishmen felt less free to discuss the problem of federation. When tho Dominions’ statesmen presented a feasible scheme, many Britishers were prepared to give their political lives to support it.” NATIONAL INSURANCE. ATTITUDE OF BRITISH DOCTORS. (Received 15, 9.30 a.m.) London, Juno 14. Fifteen thousand doctors have endorsed the British Medical Association’s policy towards the National Insurance Bill. CHILIAN NAVY. DREADNOUGHT PROGRAMME. (Received 15, 9.30 a.m.) London, June 14. The “Evening Standard” states that C'dli is considering tenders ifor two 30,000 ton Dreadnoughts, each costing two and a half millions sterling, and carrying ton 15-inch guns. BUYING A PIANO.
