GIRL PEACE SCOUTS.
A meeting of the Council in connection vvita the Girl Peace Scouts was held in Mr Ambler’s tea-rooms yesterday afternoon. Letters- wore received from the Town Clerk (Air Skoglund) expressing the Mayor’s.(Mr Masters’) wish that the G.P.S. should assist iu the Coronation demonstrations. It was decided to allow the gills to parade providing theii uniforms were here from Christchurch in time. A letter from Messrs Penn and Sole requesting the G.P.S. to collect for the hospital on Saturday, June 21th, was also received, and the Council granted, permission for the senior girls to assist. 'it is the motto of tho G.P.S. to be “Always Ready” to assist the sick and distressed. - Tno question of a united ball was discussed, and it was decided to let the matter stand over for discussion at an early date. Air Salmond, of Havvera, wrote oxSsing his willingness to visit Stratat an early date. Air Salmond was District Commander at the Blull of the G.P.S., and he should bo oi groat assistance to tho. Stratford oi ganisation. Ho lias expressed himself interested* in the matter and is ready to address the girls on 1 Scouting for Girls.” T'lio tnanks of the G.P.S. arc due to Mr A. Spence, who sent along to the secretary a useful parcel of material for tho children’s sowing bee. Tho meeting v\ ill ho licit, in the Council Chambers to-morrow (Tlmrsdayl* M l lh‘e:-u!nnd time', and Dr Steven will continue the lectures ou first aid to the injured.
