The Borough Council lias accepted - the following tenders for the supply of material in connection with t4ie sewerage scheme: —Cast-iron pipes, Briscoe and Co,, Wellington, £Oll7 3s 2d: earthenware pipes, Clark and Co., Auckland, £3751 Os 8d; cement (500 tons), to ho divided between three tenderers, at £3 10s. AVIATION. HAMMOND’S INTENT I ONS. (Per, Press Association.) Wellington, Juno 14. Hammond, the New Zealand aviator,’who was a passenger by the Moeraki to-day fiom Sydney, states that he intends bringing a machine to New Zealand at Christmas to give an exhibition flight, say, across the Straits to Nelson, or from Wellington to Christchurch, if a sufficient guarantee is obtained. Ho also intends tncorars for the prize of £15,000 offered the Commonwealth Government for a flight from Sydney to Melbourne. THE WAIHI TROUBLE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, June 14. Messrs. Semple and Parry left for Waihi to-day. The former 1 stated that the Federation . executive desired a peaceful settlement of the Waihi trouble, and would sec another conference of employers. Deputations would bo politely received and told that tho matter would bo .looked into, but nothing would ho done. Ultimately a resolution was adopted deciding to accept the assistance of Labour Unions in a joint elicit 1o obtain adequate protection for the industry. A deputation will wait on the Minister at 4 p.m. Y.M.C.A. HASTINGS CAMPAIGN. (Per Press Association ) Hastings, June 14. A fifteen-days’ campaign for the collection of £BOOO for tho Y.M.C.A. movement commenced to-day. Largo donations have already been promised, including one of £SOO and another of several hundred. The total promised, to data, excluding the latter, is £1250.
