THE OPUNAKE RAILWAY.
On reading the account of Pie discussion at the recent meeting of the Opunako Town Board re the meetings of delegates to lie held at bapuni on Juno I I, in discus? i.adway matters (says (lie Normanliy con cspondent of the “Star”) I notice that the chairman and some ei the members doubt tiie food faith of the Nei-. manhy Town Boa-’d, and seem to imply selfish motives to that* body as the reason for calling the meeting. Now, the Norman by Town Board as at present constituted consists of levelheaded, practical men, who recognise the groat necessity for the immediate construction of this railway as a moans of saving the roads from the heavy traffic, and therefore relieving the pockets of the ratepayers, came to the conclusion at their last meeting, that the best and only way to push this matter forward would bo by call ing a meeting of delegates from al local bodies and dairy companies la discuss the matter and arrange for the circulation of a monster petition to lie presented to Parliament next session.
