There was only one criminal case, a man named Edwin .Arnold being -.ntht ted with having unlawful carnal km w ledge of an imbecile woman. _ Accused was found guilty and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, and declared an habitual criminal. In the case, Katherine Cross v. Cvanhoe McFarhino, both of Motneka'.a claim for £IOO for slander, no defence wo tiled. His Honor gave judgment for plaintiff for £75.
