THE SHEFFIELD CHOIR.
ENTHUSIASM IN SYDNEY. Sydney, .Juno 12. 'i’lie Sheffield Choir had an enthusiastic; welcome to Sydney, seven steamers conveying members of various musical societies, the Yorkshire Society and Citizens’ Committee. The Zoalandia was mot at the heads, and to the strains of the hand and vocal music was escorted to the wbarl, v boro, in the presence of a demonstrative gathering, VI r Holman formally greeted the choir. Sixty motor-cars were provided by the Automobile Club, and these convoyed members of die choir to th-. ir hotels. Subsequently, at the I’o.vn Hall, the Lord Mayor and Mr Holman officially received Drs. Harriss and Coward. In the evening the choir vas entertained at a conversazione by the Philharmonic Society. The booking for the opening concert to-morrow are a record. l)r. Harriss, interviewed, said he h.opecl to have a choir in London i ext vear composed of Canadians, Ainlialians, New Zealanders auo South Africans.
