A heavy rainstorm about 2 o’clock prevented die cit\ people from going across the harbour' and the attendance was thus limited to about 300. The game was spoiled by the state •of the ground, and back play was out oi the ques lion. New Zealand won a game in which both teams led alternately, 1 y 16 points to 14. This lead was almost immediately wiped out by Bennett scoring for the local team, who led by a point, with only a few minutes to go.
