NEW ZEALAND BEAT AUCKLAND (Per Pr css Association.) Auckland, June 11. The representative i\it her a Dnioi. match between t!ie New Zealand and Auckland teams was played at I akapuna racecourse yesterday in very bad weather conditions. A heavy rainstorm about 2 o’clock prevented die cit\ people from going across the harbour' and the attendance was thus limited to about 300. The game was spoiled by the state •of the ground, and back play was out oi the ques lion. New Zealand won a game in which both teams led alternately, 1 y 16 points to 14. 'Jho Dominion team scored first, Buckland (Tararmki) getting a try which Francis (Auckland) convert a!. Flicker scored an unconverted try loi Auckland, and at half time the scores were—Now Zealand 3, Auckland 3. Auckland got into tlie lead early in the. second spoil, Bennett touching down, and shortly alter the score was further increased by Harrison scoring a try, which Colo converted. Auckland l,cd by l i points to 5. Mason (Nelson) and Siddells (Wellington) then scored trios lor New Zealand, and Francis (Auckland) converting, the tourists loci by 13 to 11. This lead was almost immediately wiped out by Bennett scoring for the local team, who led by a point, with only a few minutes to go. Gdlott (Auckland), however, scored a sensational try just on lime, and the match ended—Now Zealand 16, Auckland 11. Mr. I?. Oliplmnt was referee. The New Zealand team will leave for Sydney to-morrow.
