At Fungarolui on Wednesday I hold a clearing sale on account of Mr. Smithem, when, in spite of the rain, there was a good attendance, and satisfactory prices were realised for noth live and uead stock. The cows were a good lot, and any showing quality and forward sold really well. Early culvers made £6 10s to £ll 10s, late do. £5 10s to £6 10s, springing heifers £-5 to £5 10s, yearling heifers £2 75,; sundries and furniture made satisfactory prices. At Waiwanaitio on Thursday cattle came forward in excess of advertised numbers, and there was a good attendance. Several pons of heifers were yarded, but being mostly in a backward condition, were not enquired for. Good calves were in demand but few came forward. Mixed weaners made £1 to £1 7s, heifer do. £1 16s, IB months to 2 vear steers £2 19s 6d to £3 6s, springing 1 leifcrs £5 to £c 1 7s (3d, *£2T M’&riTZ'Kt cows £5 3g, forward cows £3 6s to £3 11s, bulls £3 IBs Gd to £5 4s, working bullocks £2U 10s per pair, lambs 8s 4d, old ewes 5s Id. The- Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.; Stratford branch, report:—Wo held our usual fortnightly cattle sale in our Stratford yards on Tuesday last, when we had a largo yarding both of slump aim cattle, and effected a good clearing of same. The demand appeared brisker and better for w eaners. One or two large .lines that wo expected did not turn up, owing io unforeseen circumstances. Weaners, small and weedy, made. 15s 6d, fair and good 255, and very good lines up to 31s Gd, and a line of very nice Ayrshire heifm.s iiom a Cardiff client were keenly competed for and realised 40s Gd.* Yearling Holstein bulls made from 30s to 109 s, 18 to 20 month steers realised fron G6s (3d to 71s; store cows, low condition 50s, medium and forward condition made to 89s, fat cows 100.3 to 102 s Gd. We had a fairly large number of 2.[ year old heifers iu calf, —small and low condition made 75s 6d to 104 s, w’liile a nice line of 50 well-grown, good-conditioned cattle were sold to a Nguire client at 112 s Gd. We offered on account of Mr. iM. Broderick, Rukengahn, who lias sold his place, 50 head, of cattle without . reserve. The cattle were of good quality, and met with keen competition from sundry buyers, hiq 20month steers making 745. 2 year heifers in calf up to 68s, while his empty heifers, of good quality, made 82s, and 2 to 2th year steers, a very nice line, to 90s, ami 3 to 3.J year steers <• ere i;fonly competed for and realised i2u.> 6c per head. Wo also offered on > count of Mr. Ed. Revell, late of ElVham. and now of Tauranga, wdio has sola his Tarata property, 81 Jiead ut hqifers in calf, which were all sold at the hammer at satisfactory prices. A Koluiratahi client yarded some very nice ■ .Gives, which looked remarkably well after the long drive in, and though sheep were considered to be rather dull selling at the present time, we managed to clear his atpoth owes at 13s, and his 4-year inti owes at 6s 2d.
