A LETTER FROM AMUNDSEN. (Received 8, 8.5 a.m.) ivondon, Juno 7. Captain Amundsen, in a letter to “The ’limes,” dated February 9tn, says liis reason for originally believing that the Bay of Whales was produced by underlying land, or rising ground, was confirmed when he saw me formations more clearly and sharply defined. At the southern end he distinctly discerned hills and valleys, indicating that underlying land or shoals hero arrested the course of a mighty glacier, and forced it out ho cither side. Captain Amundson says ho christened the station established in latitude 78 degrees 10 minuter; couth “Framheim.” He intended to establish a main depot in 80 degrees, and a ‘smaller ore as far south as possible. Ho hoped to reach the smaller depot in the autumn, before the dark season. MAWS 0K ’ 3 EXPEDS Tio H. (Received 8. 0.35 a.m.) Sydney, Juno S.
