DUNEDIN WINTER MEETING. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, Last Night. The Dunedin J.G. winter meeting opened to-day before a fair attendance. A shower of rain fell prior to the first race. The tote investments were £9,333, as against £10,082 for the opening day of last year. Results: Pacific Hurdles Handicap, 115 sovs. a mile and three-quarters.—White Cockade 1, Belmond 2, Wairakci 3. Also started: Stayboy, Pinul, Royal Shell, Umeraboy, and Embrasure. Won easily, Wairakci a fair third. Time, Cmin 28 l-sscc. Brighton Handicap, 100 sovs, seven fur-longs.-—Mumura 1, Gold Coin 2, 'John Bunyan 3. Also started: Grafton Loch. Larkspur, Nightlight, Optimeform, and Simon Pure. Won by half a length, John Bunyan two lengths away. Time, Imin 15 2-ssec. Birthday Handicap, 300 sovs, one and a quarter miles.—The Cornet 1, St. Aldan 2, Directoire 3. Also started: Countermine, Thistledown, St. Felix. Cronstadt, Feador Pnaka, Field Gun and Routine. .Won by three lengths, Directoire a length away third.
