THE BISHOP OF AUCKLAND.
o VISIT TO STRATFORD. Bishop Crosslcy, Anglican Bishop of the Auckland diocese, paid Ins first \i:il, to Stratford last night, arriving !)V liio evening mail train in company with Mi - F. F. Hemingway. At the railway station lie was met hy the Vicar' (Rev. W. A. Butler), the churchwardens and members of the C.F.M.B. At 8 o’clock the parishioners met. at the Town Hall, the Hour of which was tastefully arranged as a drawing-room. Proceedings were onoued by a selection hy the Or'liestral Ro: i-tv, after wiiich the Vicar made a speech of welcome, and Mr \V. V. Wilson, parishioners’ churchwarden, made a few remarks on hehalf of the parishioners. “Cohesion and “confirmation” were the keynotes of the Bishop's reply. Ho congratulated the parishioners on the local church ar.d on the movement for the erection of a parish hall, also speaking of the necessity for adding to the church building. At the conclusion of the Bishop’s address a musical programme was rendered hy the Urchostral Society, members o, tie choir imcl the Sbnitiorcl qiiuixolto. While Ihe music was in progress the Vicar introduced the Bishop to all those present. Ho lolt Stratford early this morning for Acw Plymouth accompanied by the Rev. Houehcn, and to-morrow he will preach at St. Maly’s church, Acw Plymouth.
