MAHOE NOTES.

(From our own Correspondent.) Owing to the inclement weather on Friday evening, the' social in aid of hall funds was postponed until Monday, 29t!i. Again the night was stormy, but a good number braved the elements, and, a most enjoyable evening was spent. The takings amounted to a little over £B. The first event was a nail-driving comS'tition for ladies, and was won by rs Asthury, with Miss Asthury second. A shooting competition for men was non by W. Dempsey, 12Johnson second. In the second naildriving competition for ladies Mrs Asthury again proved too good for her opponents, Mrs Cleaver second. The second shooting competition for men was won by A. Colson, S. J. Bennett second. A shooting competition for ladies was won by Miss L. Cumberworth, Mrs A. Colson second. The third shooting competition for men was won by A. Colson, A. Phelan second. ' The pea-guessing competition was-won by Mr H. S’hrvhpi- m, Miss W. Asthury second. After the competitions were finishoe; supoor was partaken of, then the .iiall was cleared for dancing, and trippers of the light fantastic kept things going merrily until after 1 o’clock, when a very successful gathering was brought to a close, each and all having spent a most enjoyable time.
