At a meeting of the City Council tonight, an offer was received from W ilson’s estate of £4OO for the erection ot two memorials fronting the triangle block in the centre of the city. The offer was accepted. - ‘ i The Mayor’s street construction scheme, to cost £ 100,000, 'Was shortly discussed, and the matter postponed for a fortnight for further consideration. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board’s levy on the city for the coming year shows an increase of £2OOO, caused by the extensive building programme adopted by the Board. Comment was made on the extensive powers possessed by the Hospital Board to make leVits, and the matter was referred to the finance committee.
