(Received 28, 10.30 a.in.) ■ Sydney, May 26. The Assembly had an all-night sitting on the censure debate. At the Empire League dinner Sir •Joseph Carruthors referred to the Cardinal’s attitude on Empire Day. He said England, Ireland, Scotland and Australia each had special days which they celebrated. It was good to have a day for all parts of the Empire to celebrate together. The Cardinal should remember that priests persecuted in foreign countries always found security under the British Hag. ' Mr. Holman states that he is preparing a Bill to co-operate with Victoria, South Australia, and New Zealand in dealing with deserting husbands. c Melbourne, May 26. The principal of the Bookie Agricultural College produced a cross between the Federation and another wheat, surpassing the former’s yield by several bushels per acre. Brisbane, May 26. Portion cf the city was thrown into darkness owing to inexperienced stokers being unable to maintain the gas supply. (Received 26, 12.55 p.m.) Sydney, May 26. The censure motion was defeated by 33 to 25.
