DOUGLAS ROAD DRAINS
(To the Editor “Stratford Post.’’) Sir, —In your report cl' the^Stratford County Council's meeting on Wednesday, 17th, you soy ( hot Cr Walter’s land was also affected hy Hood waters. I wish to state this lo lx* incorrect. On the south side of Cr Walter's land the Public Works Deportment straightened the course of the Toko stream hy digging a drain lift, wide, which rums for about lit) chains through Cr Walter’s land. Three-quarters of a mile north of Cr Walter's land the Stratford County Council have made a culvert Bft. wide hy 21ft. across the road to let water out of the Toko stream into the drain on the west of the load. 1 consider that Cr Walter is very fortunate indeed to have his land drained hy the Public Works Department and to have the water taken off his land hy the County Council; hut. the trouble is it is let on to other people’s land. Perhaps Cr Porritt will state who arc the settlers whose land is flooded worse than mine. I should ho very much obliged if he would do so.—l am, etc., GEORGE J EX XING'S.
