Devries, M.R.. addressed a well-attended meeting to-night, and outlined the Opposition policy, lie advocat--1 the elective appointment of the Upper '.louse. Civil Service hoard to deal with appointments and promotions, and the appointment of a railway commissioner. On the land question, he said (he Opposition policy was one of small freehold boldines, thoneh the pastoral runs and backblocks lands would have to remain. On (he native land question he advocated the placing of these on an individual instead of a communistic basis, and also advocated giviiur ednoated Maoris equal rights and privileges of Europeans. A vote of thanks and confidence was accorded.
