OBITUARY.

EARLY SETTLERS. (Per Press Association ) Christchurcli, May 24. Mr. Alfred Cox, who represented Hoatheotc in Parliament from 1863 to 1865, and Timaru from 1860 to 1868, is dead, aged 86. He was editor of “Mon of Mark in New Zealand.” Another early settler, Mrs. Win. Pratt, died yesterday at the ago of 83. She came to Nelson in 1813, and Canterbury in 1851.
