A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The general committee of the Stratford A. and P. Association met on the showground on Saturday afternoon. Present: Messrs Dingle, Dobson Masters, A. Stewart, Osmond, Kennedy, Were, Belcher, Porritt, David, J. Stewart, Mellow, Stratford, Webb, Watkins, Thomas, Peterson, Richards, and S. H .James. Mr Swadling sent an apology for absence. The resignations of R. C. Templer and R. Savwell were accepted with regret, both having left the district. The matter of fixing the position of horse and bull boxes was held over till next meeting. On 'the motion of Mr Webb, seconded by Mr Mellow it was decided to request the Ayrshire Breeders’ Association to award the championship for Now Zealand at the next Stratford show. The following new members .were elected: Messrs A. Mahoney, C. H. Potts (proposed by Mr Dingle, seconded by Mr Were), R. C. Gardiner (Huiroa), J. Kippenberg (Kioro), Chinchen, C. Bredow, A. S. Hills (Huiroa), C. Smart (proposed by Mr Watkins, seconded by Mr Were), M. Slattery, L. Johnson, C. C. Kelland (Rawlntiroa), C. E. Stewart (Kiore), A. Barlow (Inglewood), S. G. Budd (proposed by Mr Dobson, seconded by Mr A. Stewart: Miss Elthel Abbott, Messrs N. Melville, W. G. Hinrich, R. B. Barnett, A. Lcthaby, W. Diamond, I). Everiss, A. R. Barry, N. Mem berg. ■lt was decided that the next meeting bo hold on Juno 17th. The following report was received from the executive committee: The reading and writing room is now fitted up for the convenience of members of the Associatipn. A contract has been lot for stumping and levelling twelve acres more or less on the showground at a cost of £3 per acre. This work is now practically completed. The executive, after very careful consideration, found it advisable to employ a caretaker for the showground. Twenty-three applications wore received for the position, Mr E. Ncwlands being finally appointed. Since last meeting the oval has been fenced with wire-netting. About one acre of the railway reserve has been ve-fenced as an accommodation paddock. The fence between Mr James’ and the Association’s properties has been repaired. This work has been done by the caretaker. Satisfactory arrangements have been made with the Football Club re playing on the oval, the Association to receive 10 per cent of the gross gate and grandstand takings. We have to report with regret that the Association has sustained a severe loss in the death of Mr Hugh Richmond. A letter of condolence has been forwarded to Mrs Richmond by the executive. • \
