A REAL “JACK POINT.”
Mr. Edwin Gratton Coughlin, a comedian who has been appearing with the Woocls-AVilliamson Company, was found dead in bed at tlio 'J avistock Hotel, Adelaide, tho other day. Ho was 42 years of ago. Tho circumstances of Mr. Coughlin’s death recalled to many the sad fate of Jack Point, the jester in ■ “The Yeoman of the Guard” (says the “Argus”). Although racked with rheumatism, lie struggled bravely through his part ol the jester in “The Palace of tho King,” and raised many laughs with his quips and pranks. But the cflort brought exhaustion, and when he had spoken his last linos ho collapsed in the wings. Air. Coughlin was removed to his hotel in a taxicab, and, rallying after a rest, it was thought by bis friends that ho would be comfortable for the night. He was found dead in tho morning, failure of the heart having been tho immediate cause of death.
