POET CHARGED WITH TREASON

WASHINGTON, November 20. The poet, Ezra Pound, who is charged with treason by broadcasting Axis propaganda from Rome, arrived here by plane and was handed over to the Justice Department. Pound told reporters: “There is an idea afloat that I betrayed this country. If that damnfool idea is still in anybody’s head I want to wipe it out.” He added that he believed the authorities had 450 of his radio scripts.
