Maunganui Expected At

Wellington

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 7. The hospital ship Maunganui is expected to arrive at Wellington tomorrow morning with 362 prisoners from Japanese prison camps. Many of them are hospital cases suffering severely from malnutrition. Of these 150 of the worst cases will be taken off at Wellington, 100 going to the Hutt hospital, and 50 to the Palmerston North hospital. Some of the walking cases will go to Trentham, and the remainder will be taken to the South Island, where they will be accommodated at Burnham Camp. All but 80 are British servicemen, including men of the Merchant Navy, there being only two New Zealanders. A small part of Australian servicemen on board will be transferred to the Netherland’s hospital ship Tjltjalengka, which will arrive tomorrow from Auckland.
