TRUTH (33). Concerning the RESURRECTION. David says (Ps. 71:20). “Thou . . . shalt quicken me again and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. ” Isaiah says (26:19). “Thy dead men shall live; together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust .... the earth shall I cast out the dead.” Daniel says (12:2). “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame” (This is connected (ver. 1) with the time of trouble such as never was—the latter days) Job asks (14:14). “If a man die shall he live again?” And he answers, “All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come.” David says (Ps. 49:15). “God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me.” And along with this, let us bear in mind that “David ... is both dead and buried.” (Acts 2:29) and “David is not ascended into the heavens.” (Acts 2:34). These verses were written a thousand years after his death. His “appointed time” must therefore be at the future resurrection.
