Few Desire To Return Home

(Rec. 8 p.m.) ROME, October 3. The majority of the Poles in Italy do not want to return to Poland, according to a statement by Lieutenant-General Anders. Commander-in-Chief of the Polish 2nd Corps. Lieutenant-General Anders’ Commander-in-Chief of the in his corps revealed that of a total of 100,000 men 14,000 wanted to return to Poland. The remaining 86,000 considered that conditions in Poland did not permit their return.

Commenting on Polish-Russian relations, Lieutenant-General Anders said: “Poland today is governed by the Soviet Union. We Poles are naturally all most anxious to return to our native land, but we will do so only when Poland is free and independent.”
