(Special) WELLINGTON, October 3. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office this evening for the period ending 5 p.m. tomorrow: — There is a deep depression east of Wellington. South-westerly winds, freshening at times. Weather cloudy and rather cold, with brief showers.

After a frost of three degrees, the weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and sunny. * The weather at one o’clock this morning was cold, calm and clear. The barometer reading was 29.64 inches (falling). The Tides.— High water, Bluff, 0.48 a.m., 1.11 p.m.; Invercargill, 1.29 a.m., •1.52 p.m.; Riverton, 11.48 a.m., 12.11 p.m.; Oreti Beach, 11.57 a.m., 12.20 pan. The Sun.—Rises, 6.15 a.m.; sets, 6.58 ' p.m.
